Nope, I didn't ride to work today.

There was no work to ride to. St.Louis is pretty much closed. I hear tell the main streets are okay. The City doesn't clear the side streets and it may be a while before the Symba can even get to the main streets.

It is nearly 1100hr as I write this and it is -4F/-20C. The forecast calls for a high of -3F/-19C. With the Courts shut this would give me a chance to get the car cleared off and ready for tomorrow. Complication: It seems I'm coming down with the bug that has been haunting Heather the last week. I ache, my throat is catchy, I'm developing a cough and I'm feeling more cognitive blurry than I normally do on an unplanned non-structured day. Actually, I've felt this coming on since last Thursday. It seems the balance is shifting and my immune system is tiring of the fight and is giving me the opportunity to befriend this unwelcome stranger. Oh well, as Roseanne Roseannadanna might say, "It's always something."

  1. Welcome to our world though today it's a balmy +9°F. I remember a -64°F (actual air temp not wind chill) when classes were cancelled but work went on like normal. I.e. Student attendance was optional but all faculty and staff were expected to be there. On those days I'm glad to live near a bus route.

    1. I did go out and clear off the car. It was up to -3F at the time. The snow was very fluffy. It was so easy to move I cleaned off a couple of neighbors cars while I was at it. I'm still feeling a little under the weather or I might have broken out the snowshoes. There was hardly any wind and as you know take away the wind and -3F with the right gear ain't so bad.

  2. Madison looks fairly normal today in the minus 40something. I fogged up the inside of my windshield with my very presence. Siberia manages well, I hear...

Oh how we all need Roseanne in our lives. Hope you don't get too down with this illness. I keep thinking it's happening to me, but nothing- so far. Talk about being tested! Take care.

    1. I don't feel as bad as I did Monday, but I don't feel good either. Developing a cough and my voice is leaving me.

  3. Keith, the timing is perfect, if the circumstances suck. Lie low, get a mug of hot tea, and weather the storm.

    1. I agree about the timing. While I did clear the car off Monday when we were closed Tuesday I hibernated.

    1. Thanks for the well wish. Yes, I agree Gilda Radner was wonderful.

My favorite of her characters was Emily Litella.
