Too Nice

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

A Deputy Sheriff asked me this morning if I rode. I told him, "Of course, I rode. It's beautiful out there."

"I know it's beautiful out there," he said, "That's why I asked. I thought maybe it was too nice of a day for you to ride."

Tomorrow they are forecasting a much different day. We may even have a dusting of snow. The big issue is going to be the wind. We may see gusts up to 50mph.

Sadly, the Spring motorcycle fatalities are beginning to happen. There was one yesterday and two today. It seems to happen every year. Is it riders being rusty? Is is drivers not being used to seeing bikes on the road? It is probably a combination of both. Whatever the reason, I don't like it.

  • 55F/13C and a few clouds for the ride Downtown.
  • 79F/26C and clouds gathering in the West for the home ride.

  1. So sad the fatalities are starting already. Luckily we haven't heard of any in Oregon yet. Maybe because motorists are used to seeing them year round. Not sure.

Funny what the deputy said to you. They must me used to you riding in inclement weather.

  2. Last week one of my husband's colleagues succumbed to his injuries from a motorcycle accident… and yesterday a scooter rider got t-boned by a SMIDSY event. Season has started… sad.

    1. I'm not surprised :^)

That's the kind of good natured ribbing I like.
