Clear and Dry

Yes, I rode to work today.

It was clear and dry. Many of my co-workers were complaining that it was cold this morning. I didn't notice. And, my hands stayed nice and toasty. Have mentioned how much I'm loving my heated grips?

  • 24F/-4C with a few clouds and very little wind for the ride to work.
  • 41F/5C, dark and calm for the ride home.

I'm Going To Suggest

Yes, I rode to work today.

I had a chance to talk to Deputy D today. I asked him how his ride home on his Vespa was last night. He told me it was a little wet. He is working 3pm to11pm right now, and so, I suspect it was chilly, too. Even though I too did it, still it surprises me how folks buy a scooter and away they go. It became apparent to me very quickly I didn't know near enough to be out in traffic. Deputy D and I are going to talk some more tomorrow. He said he has some questions. Since the MSF Basic Rider classes are closed down for the season, I'm going to suggest he get  a copy of Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough. I'm, also, going to suggest he go ahead and spend some real money for some high quality gear. I have spent way more money on gear than I would have if I hadn't tried to save a buck. Oh well, I seem to remember someone giving me the same advice regarding gear, thus I will not be hurt if he ignores me.

It was overcast for the ride into work, but by late afternoon it was clearing. I assume it was clear for my ride home. All I know for sure is, it was dark.

  • 34F and overcast for the ride to work.
  • 40F and dark, but dry for the ride home.

Back At Work

Yes, I rode to work today.

It was a very long weekend filled with family and lots of food. I know it may sound crazy, but even though it was great fun I was quite ready to be back at work and my daily routine. It seems I'm most comfortable when I'm in my routine.

Something new greeted me when I came out to the parking area after work tonight.

Deputy D's scooter was parked in the cold and the rain. We may have a rider on our hands.

The weather wasn't what I expected for the evening ride. It wasn't a problem. I had the correct gear with me and I stayed nice and dry on the inside all the way home . . .

However,  I was rather drippy on the outside.
  • 36F/2C and overcast for the ride to work this morning.
  • 37F/3C with rain and wind for the ride home.

It Will Be Good.

Yes, I rode to work today.

Traffic was very light for the morning ride and when I went out at lunch time Downtown was nearly abandoned.

I think a number of people were getting a jump on the Thanksgiving Day Holiday.

I'll be enjoying a long weekend. There will be lots of family time. It will be good.

  • 45F/7C with an overcast sky for the ride to work.
  • 47F/8C and still overcast for the ride home

Oh Well

Yes, I rode to work today.

The morning ride was in the ever most gentle rain. Some think I'm crazy, but I love this kind of weather. I like it even more now that Mike convinced me to add heated grips to the Symba.

This is a short work week for me. This Thursday is Thanksgiving Day here the U.S. of A. Every year I wonder if Thanksgiving is going to get skipped over in the rush to begin the Christmas Season, but so far it hasn't. That said, I'm noticing there are folk who seem more eager to participate in the Friday after Thanksgiving Day shopping day than spend a day being grateful. Me? I'm not much for crowds at the best of times. And, as I get older I'm finding less and less to be merry about during the countdown to Christmas. Thanksgiving is now the best it gets. After Thanksgiving the rest of the season for me is an endurance test. Oh well.

Hopefully, there will be one more ride to work day.
  • 48F/9C with a light rain falling for the ride to work.

A Ruckus

Yes, I rode to work today.

We came to the intersection almost at the same time, but I was definitely there first. He waved me through even though I had the right of way. I'd never seen him before. He was riding a Ruckus. At the next stop light I gave him lots of room to my right. If he wished to come next to me he could have, but he chose not to. He followed me for a few more blocks and turned north. It would be some blocks more before I turned north as well.

A couple blocks after I turned north he and I encountered each other again. Once again it was at a four way stop, and again, I was there first. This time we gave each a big thumbs up. As I continued north I wondered if our routes might intersect again. Also, I wondered what streets he had taken and why. There is another scooter I see quite frequently. This other rider and I crossed paths, much like the Ruckus rider and I did today. Until I recently changed my route we would sometimes find ourselves next to one another at a very long stop light. He liked to tell very old and corny jokes.

Perhaps I will see the Ruckus rider again, and maybe not. He was wearing a half-helmet without a visor and didn't have a windscreen. I'm thinking he experienced a rather brisk ride this morning.

It was a little foggy this morning and there was a very fine mist for both the ride to work and the ride home. The mist wasn't enough to get my gear wet, but enough to leave moisture on my visor and windscreen. I wonder what it felt like on the Ruckus rider's face.

As is often the case the fog was more intense the closer one got to the River.
At lunch time I notice these two guys working.

I don't think I'd like their job on the best of days. I know I wouldn't like it on a day like today.
  • 44F/7C with light fog and mist for the ride to work.
  • 45F/7C and dark with a light mist for the ride home.

Today The Clouds Began Returning

Yes, I rode to work today.

It was warmer this morning in comparison to yesterday. It was a toastie 38F/3C for the morning ride. We have had crystal clear blue skies the last couple of days, but today the clouds began returning.

Traffic was very light tonight. This time of year, traffic seems to lessen on Fridays. Maybe folks are using up their remaining vacation days.

  • 38F/3C and a few clouds for the ride to work.
  • 54F/12C and dark with wind gusts nearing 30mph for the ride home.
