The Sky Wept

Yes, I rode to work today.

With the time change 0700hr looked brighter even with the rain.

It didn't rain hard on the way to work, but it was steady all the way in.


It didn't rain so much as weep.

Today the sky wept over St. Louis. Yes, nearly the whole day it wept. There are always days like this in the Autumn. On days like this I wonder if the atmosphere of this place is grieving the life of the summer past, letting go, and gentling toward what is to come.

By late afternoon the weeping was no more than a mist. It was just enough to spot my face shield. The pavement was mostly dry. And...

...it was dark.

Tonight marked the beginning of the riding home in the dark season.
