Tomorrow is a State holiday. The Courts will be closed in honor of Abraham Lincoln's Birthday.

Urban Commuting Means Shifting
Yes, I rode to work today.
It has been nearly three years since Billie, my SYM Symba, came into my life. Over the weekend I learned of one way she has certainly changed me.
All of the stopping and going of urban commuting means shifting...shifting...and more shifting. My left calf is now over an half inch larger around than the right. I guess in isn't any wonder I don't miss shifting when I ride Isabelle, my Kymco People 250S.
The days are definitely getting longer.
Not long ago it was dark when I got home. Tonight as I came into my alley, there was still a hint of the sunset lingering in the West.

DeleteKeith, each November when my commuting season ends, it seems like such a long hiatus. I imagine a list of off-season scooter-related things to do. Then mid-February is here before I know it and a new season looms. If some things on the list are still undone, there may not be time to do them. The end is in sight, even if winter's grip still seems resolute.
ReplyDeleteIt's sort of like watching a sunset. The sun keeps getting closer to the horizon, closer, closer, and then suddenly it's gone. That's how I remember winter. It seemed like it would never end...and, then all of a sudden it was spring.

Funny that your calf is bigger now. I have heard that about people who drive for a living and are always shifting, the clutch gets the drivers calves.

It is wonderful to have light at the end of the day. Soon it will be Daylight Saving Time and I'll be able to do stuff like land paddle after work. That's exciting.
DeleteYep, I've got driver's calf...I guess it would be riders calf. Oh well, whatever it's called, I've got it.
