It is Friday and I'm tired.
The Circuit Court will be going to e-filing come early July and there is much work to do to get ready. This doesn't mean extra hours for most of us, but for those of us who care about the quality of service we provide it has meant a definite boost in intensity. Where I work like many organizations, perhaps almost all, the few carry the many. While others are complaining about having to work the Friday after the Fourth of July, I canceled the vacation days I had approved. There is just too much to be done and too little time. These comments aren't meant to criticize my co-workers or make myself look good, it is just the way I'm made. I wouldn't enjoy the time off as much as I will by waiting and taking it later.
I suspect I will be tired until the dust settles. I am so very grateful for my daily ride homeward. It allows me to leave work and journey home. I'm convinced from the depths of who I am it is my riding to work everyday which is the difference between me merely being tired and not utterly exhausted.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend full of sweet things, the kind of things which feed your heart, enliven your brain, and nurture your whole. That certainly is my plan.
- 66F/19C with scattered clouds for the ride to work.
- 81F/27C with a few more clouds, but still plenty of sunshine for the ride home.
I agree with your work plans. Good decision.
ReplyDeleteI used to drive 45 minutes to and from work and that was precious time to settle and gather myself. Would have been better on a scooter, tho. Except in the snow.
It's raining and I'm going to paint the bathroom and the cat just brought in another chipmunk. For me, I'll have to shelve your weekend wishes.
Hmm, the cat got the chipmunk. It never worked that way in the Disney cartoons. Oh well, there's a time to paint and a time to go to the Butterfly House.

Keith,
ReplyDeleteSorry about the change in your plans; hope your adjustment and resolve will make the situation a better one.
I'm doing my very best to stay true to your kind wishes for a full and valued weekend..... thank you!
Hope your weekend was "full and valued". I like that phrase. Very nice.

I think it is always better to take extra days off when it isn't a holiday. Everyone seems to take days off around the holidays so by doing the opposite there is less traffic and the stores are less busy too when you have those extra days.
ReplyDeleteOur circuit court is going to eFile too. Not sure when. Linn County - one county over- already has.
The Clerks in the Counties which have made the switch seem to like it a lot. They say it actually makes their job easier. We have been short staffed for some time and getting more people wasn't going to happen. This looks like it may be an answer to us keeping up. I hope. I, also, hope all goes smoothly for you all. Change even if good tends to be a pain in the ....
DeleteKeith, when anything goes "e" it's an adjustment requiring hours and hours of work.
ReplyDeleteI know "e" is always better for the process, not sure that it makes a difference for the folks who run the process. Fewer paper cuts, more time staring at screens and saying things like "... I just don't get it... how is that even possible??"
It will cut down on my physical activity for sure. Yes, it will not only be a lot more time sitting in front of a screen, it will be a lot more time sitting. I'm concerned about that and am working on some solutions.
DeleteThe cost of storing records has become so large. Going digital should save us significant money in the long term. The future doesn't stand still. One either becomes a part of the future or one gets left behind.
