A Blessing

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

As I pushed Billie out of the garage, I was greeted by a light mist.

There was some fog, but visibility wasn't a problem.

Even Downtown closer to the River the fog stayed up.

It was one of those mornings when I sat in a seam of almost no traffic. It was almost spooky to look into my mirrors and see no one behind me

The earlier forecast called for plummeting temperatures today, but it was revised. It was actually a very warm day here in the Heartland and it felt like a friendly honest warm, not the warm which seems to be the herald of something terrible fixin' to happen.

It remained overcast all day. As the sun as going down the clouds opened up. I suspect there was a nice sunset somewhere.

By the time I left work whatever show there may have been was over. There was still enough light for me to see the clouds had broken up some.

I was also able to see the first sliver of the new moon. A blessing.

It is looking like the winter weather event is going to happen mostly to the South of us. Who knows, I may even ride to work tomorrow after all.

  • 52F/11C with a light misty and patchy fog for the ride in.
  • 65F/18C with some clouds, but clear enough to welcome the moonlight of Tevet on the home ride.

  1. I love alleys.

I had to look up Tevet and I still don't understand it.

    1. The months on the Jewish Calendar are lunar and start with the new moon. This is the beginning of the month of Tevet.

      I like alleys, too.

  2. I hate it when the fog socks in with no visibility, but you just the right amount that makes for some nice photos. Fog can really enhance that lonely feel when there are no other cars on the road.

    1. I love it when there is just enough fog to bring mystery to the familiar. It is renewing.

  3. The weather forecast this week sounds rather..harsh. Nissan is my favorite Jewish month, or was until the Maxima died without justification. Even though my wife gets the nativity story confused she happily for me, sticks with the gentile calendar.

    1. Michael,
There is a lovely Ladino song about the birth of Abraham that talks about a star hovering over the place he was born and other Christmas sounding motifs. I'd say your wife is in good company with her confusion.

      Nissan . . . Maxima . . . nice :^)

    1. You're most welcome, but I'd think you'd get your fill of fog. Oh well, glad you enjoyed the photos. I enjoyed the ride.
