And . . .
The day began with surprise lilies (lycoris squamigera)
And . . .
A few puffy clouds.
The day ended with some light rain.
The rain wasn't really a surprise, it was just unexpected. Seldom does a 20% chance of a scattered thunderstorm turn into a gentle rather widespread shower.
The birds had it right. They were feeding on the worms coming to the surface as it rained just enough to flush out the worms, but not enough for them to seek cover. When I saw the birds I knew while I might ride in some rain my raingear wasn't going to get much of a workout. And that's what happened.
- 68F/20C with a few clouds for the ride to work.
- 77F/25C and hardly more than a mist for the home ride.
I like lillies. We saw some calla lillies growing wild in Italy. I thought they only existed in glower shops. Those lillies are really nice too. They're a first for me.
ReplyDeleteDavid,
DeleteI wasn't familiar with Surprise Lilies until I moved here. They are fun. There here one day and gone almost the next.
We could sure use some rain here! It's been drier than a dust bowl. We had done puffy clouds the other day, but nothing came of it and it sure felt like it was going to rain.
ReplyDeleteWe need rain pretty badly, too. It didn't rain much Friday and the weekend was dry. It looks like we may get some mid-week, but even that is iffy.
DeletePleasant surprises are always the best. Did the light rain feel refreshing?
ReplyDeleteAs I mentioned to Dar, we really do need rain. Friday, was refreshing but pretty much just a tease. Hopefully when the rain does come it will be gentle.
