And . . .
Today the snow squeaked when I walked on it. It seldom gets cold enough here for the snow to get the sound I remember from my growing up. Nor does it often get cold enough for the snow and ice to have a moment of sticky to it as you plant your foot. Today it was just barely cold enough and I delighted playing with the changing viscosity under foot. I even extended my morning walk from the parking lot a little.
But, I've had plenty of fun to last me for a while. It can warm up now.
- 1F/-17C with a few clouds for my morning walk.
- 11F/-12C and some clouds for the evening commute home.
Oh I love that photo!
ReplyDeleteThe charm of squeaky snow is gone for me now. More minus 20 this week. But after tomorrow I won't have to be out in it walking dogs. Yay.
I think you noticed the charm was over quick for me. It can warm up now.
DeleteGlad you liked the photo.
I never thought it got that cold there but then again, MO is one of the few states that I've never had a reason to visit. Enjoy the squeaky snow.
ReplyDeleteThere is usually a cold snap or two during the winter, but this has been unlike most winters. I was going to say it wasn't normal, but we both know normal is up for grabs right now.
DeleteI'm ready for it to be more "seasonal". I'm willing to give up my squeaky snow.
I can just picture you walking around changing your footing stomping here and there like a little kid playing in the snow. Good for you.
ReplyDeleteOne just has to take ones own good time where one can find it. It did bring out the kid in me. Snow still does that ... for a little while and then the cold brings out the old man in me.
