And . . .
It is dark when I leave the Condo now.
Today the sun came over the horizon before I got Downtown. I didn't leave early enough to miss it. I had planned to, but didn't get organized soon enough. Soon the time will change and the sun in my eyes dance will begin again.
Reality continues to show a lot of confidence in my cognitive flexibility. Today the computers acted up. Oh well, much to my surprise I made it to five. Truthfully, the afternoon went much better than the morning. I thought of leaving at noon. I'm glad I stayed. It set a better foundation for the weekend. And, I am very glad it is the weekend!
- 53F/12C and barely a cloud in the sky for the ride to work.
- 64F/18C and mostly sunny for the home ride.
Riding in the dark isn't high on my favorites list though riding with the sun at the horizon is even lower. I like the light but have a hard time seeing if I'm driving into the sun and figure that on coming traffic is having just as much of a problem if the sun is behind me.
ReplyDeleteI would rather not have the sun in my face, but I'm one who prefers if I must deal with sun to ride into it. At least I know I'm working on paying attention. I'm not sure I trust other drivers to be so diligent in their care. I don't have that long of a commute and try to change my leaving time to miss the worse of the sun.
DeleteGetting ready to ride always takes longer than I think it will, longer still as the temperature drops.
ReplyDeleteMy helmet has a drop down sun visor. That plus my sunglasses makes those rides into the sun tolerable.
Riding to work isn't an option for me anymore ... I don't ride in the dark and the sun doesn't come up until I am already at work. Can't wait until the days begin to get longer.
ReplyDeleteI really don't ride in the dark. The street lights have everything lite up better well. Critters aren't much of a problem either.
DeleteI am not a fan of the low sun in my eyes either. Hard to keep the eyes up when you have to dip your head a bit to see.
ReplyDeleteA piece of electricians tape across the top of your visor can be just enough to block it out at certain angles, but reduces your field of vision. Hubby uses it, but it bothers me to do it.
I've tried the tape. Don't like it. I prefer to vary my departure times if I can, but sometimes I get caught. We had those 7days of rain. I miss judged.
DeleteI too hate the low sun in the eyes scenario. On the other hand being out that time of day can get you some nice sunsets!
ReplyDeleteI use Trobairitz's electricians tape trick. High enough that it doesn't bother me, but I can tip my head and it blocks out the glare.
Yep, nice sunsets. Alas, all too soon the sun will be hidden both ways.
