Nope I haven't been riding.
It has been a very strange time.
I'm sure you've heard much about the events here over the last few days.
Monday was full of anxiety even before we knew the Grand Jury had reached its decision. I can only imagine what it was like in the County Courthouse.
I wasn't surprised by the decision of the Grand Jury. Nor was I surprised by the response. Perhaps by its magnitude, yes. By the violence and the fires, no.
There were demonstrations Downtown yesterday and today. Today's targeted City Hall. As I went to lunch I passed the demonstrators.
A co-worker took the above photo and the one which follows.
By the time I got back from lunch they had moved on.
And then it started to snow.
It was pretty messy for the drive home.
Although I've missed riding the past couple weeks, it has probably been for the best.
I suspect I'll be back on two wheels soon, and I do hope soon comes sooner rather than later.
That first image is astonishing. It could be from WWII Europe.ReplyDelete
The Ferguson situation is deeply tragic. Yes, as they say- Black Lives Matter.
Yes, the Ferguson situation is tragic. I fear it is adding to the polarization. Still I'm hopeful there come some reforms which will improve the situation for both law enforcement and the communities they serve.Delete
Probably a good choice for all the above reasons. Stay safe, and hope you have a nice ThanksgivingReplyDelete
It was a lovely and full Holiday. I suspect yours was a bit off kilter. I hope all was well.Delete
It is strange to be off the bike for a while. I've been off of it for a week or two myself (other reasons) and it felt strange to finally ride it. Happy Thanksgiving and stay safe.ReplyDelete
Hope you had a wonderful Holiday. I did get out for a time yesterday. It was good.Delete
Hope everything can settle down soon for you and all of your neighbors. Happy Thanksgiving Keith!ReplyDelete
I think things are moving toward a steady point. The demonstrations will continue. Now it seems to be more those who are committed to a larger cause, those with a constructive agenda trying to not get lost in the shifting news cycle. I hope the destructive and unproductive venting is over. We'll see.Delete
Difficult times to be sure. I wasn't surprised by the decision either. I was surprised they were protesting here in Portland though and in so many other cities.ReplyDelete
Stay safe and enjoy a few days off.
I would have been shocked if the officer was indicted. It just doesn't happen. I wasn't surprised by the reaction, either. I hope something constructive comes out of this long term. If it doesn't we'll have to do the dance again. If not here in St. Louis, then somewhere else.Delete
Been thinking of you and your fair city in all of this. We had protesters crowd onto the Interstate highway and things got pretty rough.
At least people are protesting instead of sitting by complacently.
The looting, no. Never right or good.
Stay warm and safe...
I agree about the looting.Delete
One of the big problems here is how few white folk have black friends and vice versa. It makes empathy very difficult. Sad.
Stay safe Keith.ReplyDelete
Thank you. That is the plan :^)
