I know I wasn't the only one who rode to work today. It was a gorgeous day.
After work I met a stranger for dinner. We wanted to talk about doing some riding together. She has a Genuine Buddy 125cc. She and I both belong to the River City Riders Forum. She posted wondering if there was anyone in her area willing to ride with her. She is a fairly new rider and I knew how difficult it can be to find folks to ride with. It isn't always easy for smaller cc folk to find each other.
It was a good first meeting. We both like exploring back roads, finding old homesteads, and taking our time.
I'm mostly a lone wolf when it comes to riding. Much of that has to do with my personality, but some of it has to do the whole fitting into the moto culture and finding a place. Dar, Princess Scooterpie, got me thinking with her post about Moto Attitude. She just took the bull by the horns and started a riding group. While that isn't my style. Responding to another rider looking for someone to ride with is something I can do. Who knows I might even like it. We'll see how it goes.
- 66F/19C and lots of sunshine for the ride to work.
- 86F/30C with stunning blue skies for the ride leading eventually home.
Good deal, hope it works out for you both!
ReplyDeleteMe, too.
DeleteI reminded her of your advice about keeping her eye on the forum. There may be rides there she can do as well.
I thought about making it to bike night, but it was so nice, I just had to go skate.

Well THAT could be fun!
ReplyDeleteMartha,
DeleteMaybe one day you'll find out :^)
I always wanted to visit Madison.

Some times it is good to meet new people who share the same hobbies.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't mean you will ride together all the time but it's nice to have options.
Brandy,
DeleteYes, options are good. And besides she may know where I can get some bonus points for the rally!

So... no longer strangers are we. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt was very nice. We are definitely "well met". Here's to more good times.

FWIW, I did about the same thing and was taken under the aegis of a lone wolf rider....he showed me some of the back roads of Colorado and got me hooked on exploring....he then went off on his own and I've been riding mostly by myself every since.....
ReplyDeleteDom,
DeleteThat is certainly an nice share. I was mentored by Maggie who was the first to comment on this post. She rides alone, but she loves to ride with others. It is good to have someone with at least a little more experience when we are beginning. Hope you get back on the road soon. You are certainly having an adventure.
