Gray, But ...

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

It didn't rain on me. It was still gray, but warmer.

On the ride home the sun really tried to make it through the clouds. Alas, it's quest didn't fare so well where I was.

I could only admire it from a far.

I did see this sign of Spring:

I'm not sure what this was a sign of:

When I showed this photo to a friend her comment was, "Who doesn't love a pocket-sized mobile pole dancer."

Different Day from Yesterday

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

I began my ride to work in a thunderstorm. I guess this means it is really Spring.

While I left the condo with thunder and lightning by about a third of the way Downtown it became just rain. It was wasn't a hard rain, but it was real steady. My raingear definitely got a test.

By mid-morning the rain was merely a drizzle.

By quitting time the rain had moved out. Even the pavement was mostly dry.

I told tomorrow it will be warmer and if I'm lucky I'll miss the overnight rain.

  • 34F/1C with some thunder and a almost heavy rain for the ride to work.
  • 46F/8C and overcast for the home ride.

Monday

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

It didn't rain during the morning ride.

It did rain around lunch time.

It didn't rain during my ride home.

The forecast for the week looks a lot like Spring. In other words, unsettled. T-storms are possible. We'll see.

I'm quite glad to not be where there is snow and ice in the forecast.

  • 42F/5.5C with a few clouds for the ride to work.
  • 57F/14C and a few clouds for the home ride.

Yay! It Felt Like Spring.

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

It was a gray morning, but by the afternoon the sky had cleared.

It was a beautiful evening for the ride home. These folks were playing catch in the Park at Lafayette Square. There were lots of people out and about.

And plenty of cyclists out as well. Surprisingly, I didn't see another motorcycle or scooter.

  • 42F/5.5C and gray for the ride to work.
  • 56F/13 with a few clouds for the ride home.

A Gray St. Joseph's Day

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

It was gray all day. The pavement was wet for the ride in, but the streets soon dried off.

The rain stayed to the north of us. The sun stayed somewhere.

Today is St.Joseph's Day. This is a big deal in some places, especially New Orleans. Here it is not.

I had my red on and spent the day wishing folks "Happy St. Joesph's Day." I would often add this, "May your home and hearth be blessed, and may those you love be safe and protected." One of the people I did this too is named Joseph. He didn't know anything about St.Joseph Day. I told him to Google it to find out more. He really was very excited. Here's some links if you're curious:

Wikipedia of course.

This one has recipes.

Another New Orleans party.

Enjoy and Happy St. Joseph's Day. May your home and hearth be blessed, and may those you love be safe and protected.

  • 50F/10C and gray for the ride home.

Fire in the Sky

Yes, I rode to work today.

And ...

The sky put on quite a show for me in the morning.

Come evening it was a different story.

There were reports of sleet, but I didn't encounter any. It appears spring showers may stick around for the rest of the week. No complaints from me.

  • 39F/4C and fire in the sky for the ride to work.
  • 45F/7C and light rain for the home ride.

He's Back

Yes, I rode to work today.

And ...

The Chieftain is back. He pulled up shortly after me. He rode yesterday, too. He told me he'd gone thirty-five days without riding. He said it was the longest he'd gone without riding in years.

I did ride last Thursday, but was off Friday and yesterday. The occasion was a Kodo concert at the University of Illinois. While she was at the concert I spent the evening catching up with a friend I'd not seen in a long long time. She took me to a small Japanese garden. I'm not sure if it was part of the University or simply near it.

It was very nice.

Today was a lovely day for riding. Rain in the forecast for the rest of the week. We'll see.

  • 51F/10.5C and overcast for the ride to work.
  • 55F/13C and a few clouds for the home ride.

Summer?

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

I'm guessing I rode by a hole, but I didn't investigate thoroughly.

It's unusual to see a group of cyclists in the morning. Often after work. Very seldom before.

I don't know why the lights were on at Busch Stadium this morning. Maybe getting ready. The baseball season starts soon. A sure sign Spring is drawing closer.

I spied this during my mid-morning break. Another sign of Spring.

It warmed up rapidly during the afternoon. It almost felt like Summer had arrived for the ride home.

Lot's of folks were out taking advantage of this pleasant turn in the weather.

I wouldn't complain if it stayed this way for a few days.

  • 36F/2C with light fog for the ride to work.
  • 73F/23C and lots of sunshine for the ride home.

A Beautiful Wondrous Ride

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

It rained. It was a gentle steady rain.  I love mornings like this. The lights. The reflections off the wet pavement. The smells. The soothing sound of the raindrops on my helmet. It was a beautiful wondrous ride.

There is something magical about riding in the between times. Of course, this is also, when there is danger as well. Funny how it so often works out like that.

It was brightening as I walked up the steps of the Courthouse. Grateful

The ride home was dry. The rain had moved on. I did see some left over snow. The little that's left is dirty, dirty, dirty!

I wouldn't be upset if the snow be gone for this season.

  • 45F/7C with a nice light and steady rain for the ride to work.
  • 56F/13C and more clouds than sun for the home ride.

Is It Spring?

Yes, I rode to work today.

A week ago snow. Now it feels like Spring.

The snow is nearly all gone.

The time change means leaving home in the dark.

I wasn't the only one who rode to work today. Looking at the Harley got me thinking Billie would look good all black. What do you think? Yes, all black, but no ape hangers!

  • 37F/3C with a few clouds for the ride to work.
  • 56F/13C and overcast for the home ride.

Weather Roller Coaster

I didn't ride last Friday.

And ...

I don't know why. It was 3F/-16C when I went to work, but it warmed up nicely to 20F/-7C by time to leave. And, I must say I was wondering even more voraciously why I didn't ride when I neared the Scottrade Center. The crowd from the matinee performance of "Frozen" was letting out. I was walking against the flow of folks. Not my idea of a good time.

I didn't ride today either, but I knew why.

Over the weekend we did get the snow the forecaster said we might. We didn't get the ice which was also a possibility. I am always grateful to not get ice.

There is a chance of freezing rain tonight. Looks like I'll be driving again tomorrow even though it is supposed to warm up to 50F/10C by the afternoon. Alas, the warm up is to last only a day then back to snow and cold. We're on the weather roller coaster again.
