A Dusting

I didn't ride today.

We did get the predicted dusting of snow.

It snowed on and off during much of the morning.

By evening the roads were all clear and dry.

And what of tomorrow. The National Weather Service says it will be, "Cold." We all now "Cold" is a relative term.

It was 23F/-5C and light snow in the morning. It didn't warm up today. It actually was a little cooler when it was time to head for home.

Smooth

Yes, I rode today.

And . . .

Still no one else in the parking area. I did see a sportbike out and about on my way home. I didn't see anyone else out. This makes two days without seeing any scooters. This is unusual. On the other hand the bicycles were out in force.

The forecast is for a dusting of snow overnight. All the streets have been treated again. It is also supposed to get colder.

The Symba being air cooled loved the temperatures today. Smooth.

  • 23F/-5C with a few clouds for the ride to work.
  • 40F/4C and more clouds for the ride home.

Yes.

Yes, I rode to work today.

And ...

I was the only one in the parking area.

Not only has Chieftain Rider not been riding, I've not seen him around the Courthouse. I'm beginning to get concerned.

I thought it funny that while I saw two riders out yesterday, today I saw no one else.

  • 14F/-10C and clear for the ride to work. Tis the season for sun in my eyes.
  • 39F/4C and a cloud here and there for the home ride.

Some Folks Did

Nope, I didn't ride today.

But, some other folks did.

I didn't see anyone out and about in the morning. However, by the afternoon it had warmed up to a balmy 16F/-9C. I doubt you can make it out, but the rider in the above photo is wearing camo. I will give him credit for having a yellow scooter and a yellow helmet. The other two wheel motor powered vehicle I saw was also a scooter. I couldn't get a photo. They were riding two up on what looked to be a small Vespa and they looked very cold.

It was colder in the morning. It was 4F/-15.5C as I walked across the City Hall Parking Lot.

This sparrow thought it a good idea to hang around in the steam. Even so, he was all puffed up.

The evening was capped with a nice gentle sunset.

I Hope

Still not riding to work.

I almost rode today. It was 1F/17C at ride time and was suppose to warm up to 17F/-8C by quitting time. Alas, I decided not to. I'm sure the Symba would have started after being outside all day, sure, but not positive.

Clouds are moving in. Possibly a dusting of snow tonight with a forecast of sleet and possibly freezing rain later. Four wheels sound much better than two.

Maybe next week. I hope.

Sun

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

There was just the right amount of clouds to make for an interesting sunrise.

For the evening commute the only clouds on the horizon was the beefed up police presence for the kickoff of Mardi Gras.

Last year at this time of the evening there wasn't anyone in front of City Hall, but things can change in a year's time.

No matter what happens during this Mardi Gras weekend one thing is for certain. It is going to be chilly. One might say it is going to be "nipplely".

The Courthouses are closed for President's Day Monday. I'm glad. I want to keep practicing this three day weekend stuff until I get it right.

  • 21F/-6C and a few clouds for the ride to work.
  • 42F/5.5C and pretty clear for the home ride.

Another Gray Day

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

It was another gray day. I'm told there was sun during part of the day, but if so, it was when I was far from a window.

While yesterday I did see some other motorcycles and scooters out and about, today I saw only one other, a scooter.

Tomorrow I am off work. It is a State holiday, Lincoln's Birthday. I'll be at the car dealership nice and early getting my new key for the Yaris and getting my old spare key reprogrammed. Later, there's hope I will have lunch with Heather. We used to always do lunch when I had a "Holiday" she didn't. Her office moved and our tradition got displaced. It would be nice to reestablish it.

As I pulled into my alley I thought I noticed a little brightening in the western sky. I suspect it was mostly wishful thinking.

  • 33F/0.5C and mostly gray for the ride to work.
  • 35F/2C and still gray for the ride home.

Short

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

I had a meeting tonight after work. Thus, a short post.

I'm still the only one in the parking area. I thought there might be at least one other today. It was forecast to be wonderful by the afternoon at least by my standards. And the forecasters were spot on.

  • 28F/-2C and overcast for the ride to work.
  • 43F/6C and clear for the ride home.

Gray Today, But ...

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

It was gray.

A light drizzle in the morning was pretty much the only difference between the two commutes. It was quite the change from yesterday.

Yesterday I took out on the Kymco and I rode up to Creve Coeur Lake Park. I was pleased the rowers were out. I suspected they would be.

I wasn't the only one with the idea. It was crazy crowded. For once the weather got it right. Nice and warm for the weekend and gray, colder, and uninviting for the work week.

  • 33F/0.5C with a light drizzle for the ride to work.
  • 35F/2C and gray for the home ride.

Balance

Nope, I didn't ride today.

And . . .

It was 8F/-13C and crystal clear when I left the condo. My street was a glare of ice, but the main roads were done dry.

The sunrise wasn't much of a deal this morning, but the moon hanging around in the western sky made up for it. Balance

It's all about balance.

A Nice Sunrise

Nope, I didn't ride to work today.

And . . .

The day started out much like yesterday did.

There was  a nice sunrise followed by a rapid warm up. It was 40F/4C before noon. This didn't last. The temperature dropped. It rained. And by evening drive time it was snowing.

I hate cleaning ice off of car windows.

The drive home was much more fun than scraping my windshield.

This isn't going to be much of a snow event. It is going to get down to 11F/-12C tonight. Should make for a refreshing walk from the parking lot to the Courthouse.

Blue Sky

Nope I didn't ride to work today.

And . . .

It was a beautiful day. It started coolish at 24F/-4C but by the afternoon the mercury climbed to very delightful 50F/10C. Why didn't I ride? More fallout from losing my keys. By the time I could leave the parking lot last evening the gate wouldn't open when I swiped my parking pass. This meant I had to leave the lot in a rather unorthodox way. I wasn't sure if the card reader would let me in this morning. Since the weather might be less than ideal tomorrow I decided not to put this potential inconvenience off until tomorrow when I could deal with it today. Of course, the reader recognized my card right off. At least I know there is no problem.

The sunset tonight was more smokey orange than fire,

What it lacked in intensity it made up for in longevity. It seem determined to hang on.

The major good thing about not riding today was not having to ride on the gunk the melt-em brine manufactures when it mixes with the oil on the streets. The trucks were out in force getting ready for our "snow event". Last I checked, the forecast was for less than an half of inch of accumulation possible. Oh well, I guess better to be safe than sorry.

And, by the way, I still haven't found my keys. I suspect I never will.

Misplaced

Nope, I didn't ride today.

Perhaps I should have. Yes, there were patches of powdery snow, but after work I misplaced my car keys. I still haven't found them.

My guess was the keys came out of my pocket when I pulled out my camera to take this photo. I back tracked and didn't find them anywhere along my route. I went back to my desk. Nowhere to be found.

I had to call Heather. She came and got me.

The almost full moon kept me company while I waited.

I'm at a loss as to where the keys could be. Tomorrow the search will continue.
