The forecasters said it was going to rain and it did. I rode to work in light rain and rode home in heavier rain.
I took a different way home. My service tech is opening a new shop and I wanted to see if I could find it.
I couldn't. Later I found out he'd told me the major intersection it is near and not the actual intersection.
I didn't find what I was looking for, but it did mean a longer ride home. This is good, even in the rain.
I get a real charge out of being able to ride in the rain and not get wet on the inside. It has taken me a while to get the gear right, but it seems I have it. Still, after nearly an hour of playing in the rain I was ready to be home.
- 59F/15C with a light rain for the ride to work.
- 45F/7C and a heavier rain for the home ride.
Wow that's beautiful green down there. I know you enjoy every bit of it.
ReplyDeleteMartha,
DeleteI really do. Growing up in Michigan, Spring here always seems to come so early and is so lush. Even after all these years it surprises me. I talked to my sister and they may get snow Friday. Yes, I enjoy it very much.

And we had a brilliant day today. Just when I got the two-wheelers shipped... life can be cruel.
ReplyDeleteAlthough riding in the rain has it's challenges, I'm a fan of it too.
ReplyDeleteWith the right gear (I invested in Frogg Toggs) riding in the rain can be rather enjoyable. Not sure why that is...but it is. :)
I have a couple of theories. One is the way the rain mutes the natural noises. It doesn't do so as much as snow, but it does some and there is peace in the silence it adds to a ride. The other idea has to do with the rain on a tin roof. I love to listen to it. Likewise when it is raining just right the sound in the helmet is very soothing. Probably both theories are off base, but it was nice of me to share wasn't it :^)

You all are braver than I am. I choose not to ride in the rain nor if the roads are wet.
ReplyDeleteWhen I took the Motorcycle Safety Class I had a conversation with one of my instructors during a lunch break. It was October and I commented on how lucky we were it was such a nice weekend. He told me he actually liked it when it rained. Why? Because then students learned what they taught worked on wet streets to.
DeleteI slow down. I use a lot of rear break and am very easy on the front. I give even more room between the car in front of me and myself. So, no so much brave as careful.
Welcome and thanks for stopping by.

Thanks for the tips Keith... it's Kathy from the River City Riders site. I responded to your PM on there. I never took a motorcycle safety class.
DeleteI sent you a message. The class was helpful for me. It was a good thing. I recommend it.
