New Computer

I have Veteran's Day off. So, no I didn't ride to work today. I did ride over to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

You, also, may have noticed I didn't post last Friday. I had some technical difficulty. My computer died. This is my first post on the new one. I'm still not all sorted out on photos yet. Windows 8 is different. Stay tuned.

We are supposed to get out first cold snap beginning tonight. Let the fun begin.

  1. I just replied on my blog re your comment- My neighbor the IT man does not like 8. So I am interested to hear what you think.

Your "fat" consumption would consist of cheese and ?

    1. Responded on your blog about Windows 8. I do miss my XP. It reminds me of my smart phone. I can't figure it out either, but I get by. I have Windows 8.1 for Dummies. We'll see.

Fat? I don't do dairy. It means nuts, olives and olive oil, and eggs.

  2. I'm on a new computer myself, with windows 8 - a laptop. It's different, but I haven't minded it too much. I've been using an ipad most of this year, so perhaps the similarities helped with the adjustment. Hard to find things sometimes though.

    1. Hi Kari,
Now that I know how to get past the "Tiles" most things work pretty much the same. They look a little different, but I'm feeling a little less overwhelmed. Yes, finding things is the biggest problem. Once I find them, things fall into place.

  3. I am glad you got the new computer sorted. I have heard Windows 8 takes some learning.

I use Macs at work and at home and they never really seem to change much. Update a lot, but not really change.

    1. You can see my answer to Bluekat. It is all different and not so different. I think folks who use there smart phones for more functions than I do probably step right up to it.

  4. Windows 8 with or without a touchscreen? Of those that I've talked to that use it, those with a touchscreen love it and those without hate it.

    1. It certainly seems designed to work best with touchscreen. Heather has touchscreen and I don't. We both aren't happy, but not as upset with it as we were when we first encounter 8. She's upgraded to 8.1 and hasn't seen many differences.

The tiles on the opening screen and the Apps language really show how much they had mobile interface in mind . . . and selling the Apps to "enhance" ones experience.
