Good Friday

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

We had an early dismissal.

It is Good Friday, a day when Christians remember the dying of an innocent man. Many Christians will be contemplating the cruelty we are capable of inflicting on each other and renewing a commitment to lean against hatred and injustice.

Apparently there will be others who will be getting ready for Bar-B-Que.

You can't make this stuff up.

  • 48F/9C with a few clouds for the ride to work.
  • 66F/19C and clouds, but plenty of sunshine for the ride home.

  2. Awww....I love that tradition when you get headed down south. BBQ feasts and all kinds of foody get togethers. Important family gatherings, neighborhood gatherings. I envy you down there for some of those reasons.

I hope you have a good and worthy weekend.

    1. Martha,
I agree Easter is for feasting and heaven knows Fridays in Lent here in St.Louis means Fish Fry. It was just a wee bit odd to see a church having a barbecue on the Saturday before Easter. It seemed like something Monty Python would come up with. That said, we feasted on Saturday. We took Heather's Grandma out. We thought we'd miss the crowds and I think we did.

It was a very good weekend and I'm sure partly because of your good hope.

  3. It is nice that you got an early dismissal.

I forgot it was Easter until we heard on the radio Wednesday it was a holiday weekend.

At least I know why the grocery stores were so busy yesterday afternoon.

    1. I forget what closes for Easter and what doesn't. The grocery stores do. Many of the fast food places do, but the more traditional sit down places do a blooming business. We'd planned to stop at Jimmy John's after our hike. Alas, it was close. Heather likes their guacamole.

  4. I am not religious but for us it is a time when the family gets together… mostly for food and talk (very similar to Jewish tradition(.

    1. Food is good. Talk is good. Good food is better. Good food with good talk is best. Hope your weekend was filled with good food and good talk.
