So Goes Springtime

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

We woke to Tornado warning sirens. A Tornado was confirmed a few miles north of us. There was no damage here. You can click here to see photos of some of the damage which occurred not very far from us.

When it came time for me to leave the condo it was barely raining.

Given the timing of the storms I was surprised to see the Vulcan in the parking area.

It rained off and on throughout the morning and into the afternoon.

It cleared in time for my ride home. I wasn't expecting this. Truthfully, I expected to ride home in the rain.

The last thing I was expecting was sunshine, but there it was. Go figure.

Now we're back under a Tornado Watch until Midnight. And, so goes Springtime in St.Louis.

  • 59F/15C with a very light rain for the ride to work.
  • 62F/17C and mostly overcast with the sun making an appearance on my home ride.

    1. Elliot called April the cruelest month. I'm doing my best to take care...and still have a touch of adventure.

    1. Yep, that's pretty much it. Ride in between the bands of storms. Radar is my friend :^)

  3. Glad to hear that you alright, it looked like some serious damage. Tornados come in the Spring? For some reason I always thought that July-August was the season. But I've never lived in a tornado area.

    1. They happen all year around, but are most common in Spring when the weather is particularly unsettled. The front page of the local paper had this headline today: "It's Siren Season." Pretty much sums it up.

  4. I always wanted to see a tornado. My friends and family think I'm crazy. My dad was from Kansas and never saw a tornado. Somehow that's just wrong. ;)

    1. I suspect there is a little bit of the storm chaser in you! I've seen a funnel once but it stayed up where I was at. It came down later and did some damage. I don't care to see another or be near one again. It's amazing the damage tornadoes can do.

  5. If you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes.

The tornado warning must be a little scary.

Glad you had some surprise sunshine your your ride home. Ends your work day on a high note.

    1. Here the sirens go off and then comes a voice giving you a little information, telling you to seek shelter and to turn on your radio. The voice is creepy. We spent some time last night in the central hallway, but only got a little hail. All the action was north of us again.
