Birds

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

It was another wondrous weather day.

Another day spent inside.

I did escape for a few moments around lunchtime.

The birds were busy feeding, bathing and drying themselves. Soon the raptors will be returning and it won't be such a bird's life Downtown. But, for now, life is good.

60F/16C with a few clouds for the ride to work.
86F/30C and brightly cloudy for the ride home.

  1. I went for a walk today and heard birds singing in the trees around the campus. I never thought about a birds life in the city with raptors to worry about. Kind of scary from a birdy point of view. I'm glad you got out for a little bit. It does good things.

    1. Some years back they introduced falcons to control the pigeon population. It has worked.

It does wonders to get outside. I'm working to be more diligent doing this now the weather is nicer.

  2. Very much like the first birdy photo. Really nice eye for color and design on that.

    1. Thanks, Martha. It's funny how often the Serra Sculpture shows up in my photos.

  3. Great bird pictures. I just love to sit and watch and listen to them. A perfect way to spend the lunch break.

We've had some Cooper Hawks in our yard lately going after the smaller birds. Unfortunately we've seen the little ones get caught before. I like all birds, but I really don't want the Hawks using our bird feeders as a restaurant.

    1. Well, a balance will come about. Predator and prey work things out somehow. Still it isn't a joy to watch it play out.

  4. I love it when they sing in the early morning around here.

We have a lot of mourning doves. Their cooing is so peaceful.

    1. We, too, have the doves. It is always a delight when I start to hear the birds in the morning. I know it is Spring when it happens.
