Weather Wonderful

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

Again the Black Harley Dude was in my usual parking place. I have an idea why he's moved over there. I don't see him often but he works with Chieftain Rider. Chieftain Rider is on vacation. I see him more often. We'll get it squared around. The good news is on the days I really need to park Billie in her nook of protection Black Harley Dude probably won't be there.

Weather wise, it felt more like October than July today. It's supposed to be pretty much like this for most of the July 4th Holiday. Heather and I hope to do some land paddling over in Illinois. She's, also, rented a special lens for at least one photo outing. It is looking like a full weekend.

I'm told more motorcyclist are killed in Missouri during the month of June than any other month. I made through another June. The 4th isn't my favorite weekend to be riding either. The beer starts flowing pretty early. That said, I may sneak out for a little while come Sunday. We'll see.

  • 61F/16C and a little cloudy for the ride to work.
  • 79F/26C with plenty of clouds for the ride home.

  1. Hope you get your parking situation resolved Keith; always best when everyone can settle into something compatible.

It's been cool up here as well with mornings in the 50's. Our home's A/C quit last weekend; we missed it then but wouldn't right now.

Have a great 4th and good luck with that special lens. Please keep July a safe month!

In a few days I'll be up in the tippy top of MO but only just.

    1. What incredible weather for the big Fourth of July Fair St.Louis. Made it safe through the weekend. Even did a little riding.

      You be safe as well.

  2. Enjoy your weekend.

We typically try and stay off the roads on the 4th as well. I am afraid beer will flow more freely being the 4th is on a Friday. We might sneak out locally, but not long day trips.

    1. I made it out for a little bit on Saturday afternoon. Stayed off the main arteries. I am so glad it is over. Neither Leo or I do firecrackers very well. It seemed to us there were more this year. I suspect it had to do with the 4th being on a Friday.

  3. Keith-
Hope you have a safe, wondering weekend with some peaceful rides away from the frolickers (is that a word?)!

  4. The Harley rider probably likes that spot as no one can park next to him. And maybe the same reason you like it.

    Take care…

    1. Actually, I suspect it is something like you suggest. Truth be told the homeless guy that hangs out around the Courthouse has set-up shop on the other side of the parking area. I think Black Harley Dude has some concerns about him being there and that close to his bike. I've been around this particular homeless guy for years. He won't bother the bikes, but I don't think the other rider shares my confidence.

  5. Keith it's very Octoberish here as well. I went for a ride the other night and actually wore my winter gear without the quilted liners and glad I did. We are rather chilly up in a Victoria right now.

I have had the same experience myself with someone parking in my spot, it makes me a little miffed, but what can you do. I usually don't ride on long weekends either, too much carelessness by other road users. Hope you are enjoying your long weekend.

    1. We'll get the parking thing worked out, it's just a nuisance. I have only rode once in my actual summer gear. Amazing.
