Vulcan Rider and Me

Yes, I rode to work today.

And . . .

I wasn't the only one.

I didn't see any other bikes out on the road. Maybe Vulcan Rider and I were the only ones out early today. I did see a couple of cyclists braving the cold. Traffic continues to be light, but there seemed to be a lot more activity Downtown today.

Saturday it was over 60F/15C and felt like Spring. Heather and I went for a nice hike at Castlewood State Park.

Today it was just as clear, but some colder.

It did warm up for the ride home and it clouded over. Won't be as chilly for the ride in tomorrow.

  • 11F/-12C with a few clouds for the ride in.
  • 26F/-3C and cloudy for the ride home.

  1. I never realized that it got that cold in St. Louis. For some reason I picture it sunny and warm.

    1. Richard,
It can be that, too. It can be hot and brutally humid in the summer with lots of nice days sprinkled in. The winters usually have a couple of cold snaps. The last few winters have been mild. Heaven only knows what this year will bring.

  2. Like Richard said I am surprised that you get temperatures as cold as -12C down there. I remember it to be a rather warm place (it was a late October when I visited in 2001).

    1. Sonja,
As I mentioned to Richard it can certainly be warm here. It is most often humid cold and warm which can make for some very miserable days.

  3. Kudos to you for still riding in that chilly weather. I hate riding below 45˚F.

Happy New Year to you and Heather.

    1. Happy New Year to you, Troubadour, and, of course, Basil!

It really is all about having the right gear and having only 10mi to go doesn't hurt :^)
